The most famous landmark found anywhere in the United States can be found on Ellis Island. The Statue of Liberty is the sign of Democracy and Freedom in the U.S. and during the early to mid 1900’s it was also the very first thing that one could see on the horizon as the neared the shores of America.
Given to the U.S. as a gift from France, the Statue of Liberty is actually one of a set of twins; the other which is still prominently displayed in Paris France along the River Seine. The Statue of Liberty is visited by over 4.2 million people every year and is a definite must see while in New York City.
