What is a review? Review is a personal opinion about a book, movie, product, event etc. Review gives a typical preview about the particular thing written upon. People read review before buying any product or going for any movie.

Writing reviews for various topics should involve a deep knowledge about it. If a movie is reviewed without seeing a movie, it cannot be determined as a good review. A review should help a reader to know information about it. Like a review should contain the merits and demerits on the topic discussed. If you are writing a review for a product, then you should have hands on experience with the product. You need not buy that product but you should have seen or worked on it. A good review should satisfy the reader.

Writing reviews that are only pointed upon its negatives cannot be taken as a good review. Every topic will have to be discussed in a different way. A review of a product will be completely different than a review on a movie. Don’t give a long review about anything. Make as many paragraphs as possible. Break the sentences. Make sure your reader doesn’t get bored on reading your review. He should get a complete preview on what you are writing about. Every review should have a conclusion. Give your opinion about the whole thing you are writing about in one or two sentences at the end.

How to write a review? Let’s take an example on writing a review on a movie. When you have decided to write a review on a movie, there should be no hesitation given to watch the movie. Before you take a pen to write, buy the ticket to see it. After watching it, make an analysis of the movie. Write on what you like in the movie and also what you didn’t like in the movie. When you are ready to write the full review, the things to be preferred first are the story, screenplay, direction, acting, cinematography. You can even write about the other departments of the movie. Give a brief note about these things and your view on these departments. Never write about the climax or any other scene that has the suspense of the movie. Don’t forget, there are many people who decide whether to go to a movie or not by reading a review. When you blog it, many people will surely take a glimpse on your review.

Reviews are published in Newspapers, Magazines and Web portals. There are some websites that concentrates only on reviews on different events. When you are writing a review, the number of words you write does matter. If it were a review for a news paper it should not exceed 1000 words. It differs for all newspaper companies. If it were a short review, then it should be in the range of 100 - 200 words. Write a review that expresses your opinion about it by keeping the readers in your mind.
